Brett Badovinac picked up yet another handball tournament victory Wednesday night at the Butte Elks.
This time, though, it certainly was not easy.
Badovinac edge Frankie Shields 11-6 in the tiebreaker to defend his title in the annual Fall Back handball tournament. Shields won the opening game 21-19 before Badovinac bounced back to force the tiebreaker with a 21-12 victory in the second.
Badovinac won every Butte tournament — including the City Masters, City Singles and City Doubles — the past two seasons. The Fall Back tournament is the first of the 2013-14 handball season.
Shields won the Class A state singles title in Missoula this past April.
Shields beat David Starcevich in the semifinals. Badovinac topped Cole Salo to secure a spot in the chipper. Starcevich and Salo will play for third place.
